The Oath Keepers and The Rise of Radical Patriotism

Oath Keepers is one of the fastest-growing “patriot” organizations on the right. Founded  April 2009  by Yale-educated lawyer and ex-Ron Paul aide Stewart Rhodes, the group has established itself as a hub in the sprawling anti-Obama movement that includes Tea Partiers, Birthers, and 912ers. There are scores of patriot groups, but what makes Oath Keepers unique is that its core membership consists of men and women in uniform, including soldiers, police, and veterans. At regular ceremonies in every state, members reaffirm their official oaths of service, pledging to protect the Constitution—but then they go a step further, vowing to disobey “unconstitutional” orders from what they view as an increasingly tyrannical government.

As of mid-January, according to Rhodes, Oath Keepers had at least one chapter in every state and was adding dozens of members daily. Some 14,000 people had signed up as members on the Oath Keepers website while more than 15,000, including dozens of military recruiters, had done so on Facebook.

The group’s leader, Stewart Rhodes, spoke at an annual Revolutionary War simulation in Lexington, he gathered support from many who are Tea Party sympathizers. Most Oath keepers are libertarians who believe in the New World Order and are prepared for another American Revolution as soon as the government goes too far. This may occur as soon as the government blocks cities, detains citizens in camps, or takes away the right to bear arms. If any of these occur, the Oath Keepers are prepared to fight against their fellow service men and women in order to uphold the constitution.

Maybe it’s me, but could the reason the media didn’t run this story have anything to do with the fact that Mother Jones is an extreme left publication?

When put within the appropriate context of the reactions of local law enforcement and the federal government to Hurricane Katrina, the purpose and objectives of the Oath Keepers seems pretty tame.

Mother Jones has always been a regular source for 60 minutes. It might not be so “extreme left”.

“but then they go a step further, vowing to disobey “unconstitutional” orders from what they view as an increasingly tyrannical government.”

That’s not going a step further, that’s the duty of every American citizen.

“Patriotism is the final resort of crooks and uneducated opportunists.” These “intellectuals” (they do not know the difference between the Baltic and the Balkan States, nor can they find any country on the map save for Mexico, Canada and perhaps “Hawaii”) are now headed incognito by a certain poorly educated, mentally pixiliated two year college course “graduate” in “American Journalism” and who clearly speaks in drawl and a twang while disrespecting English grammar apart from having a very poor general knowledge (one needs to pay attention of her pronounciation of Nouns; countries and places) called Sarah Palin.

Due to the fact that “Nationalism” has never existed or will ever exist in the USA, these individuals have chosen the word “Patriotism” instead. For the record, Nationalism exists in Japan, Iran (eeh-ran), Korea (north nd south), France, Russia and Italy among a few other countries.

I wonder if Sarah Palin would know how many sides does a triangle have or what is the religion of a Buddhist Monk! This imbecile is now being coronized by other “mind-molesters” like Limbaugh, Beck (Mr. suicide), Weimer (Savage), Boortz, Hannity, Gillette and a few other professional agitators of the American society.

Only a dedicated decision to get rid of these individuals by boycotting them through their sponsors will heal this great Nation.

Were I still in the Navy, there is No Way In Hell I would allow my name to be associated with this group. Joining a “club” whose stated purpose is to mutiny is treason. That said, I read the 10 ‘promises’, and none of them look particularly likely to occur, let alone to be left to the general ‘troops’. I also find the point to be moot, as all officers are required to refuse illegal orders (the main reason I think Ollie North should still be incarcerated).

Assuredly there are at least a few employees at the Mother Jones organization that are true believers, with the intent to do good for humanity.

However, a main contribution of Mother Jones is to frequently publish propaganda with the aim of promoting Marxism and a dangerous level of pacifism, particularly when it comes to firearms ownership, individual rights, or the Oath of Allegiance, which also happens to be the Oath of Citizenship. It is the oath every federal employee must take. Quite a shame so few obey it. In an ideal world, the Oath wouldn’t even be needed.

Mehr said “Due to the fact that “Nationalism” has never existed or will ever exist in the USA, these individuals have chosen the word “Patriotism” instead”

That’s simply not true. Francis Bellamy was definitely a nationalist, a socialist, and wrote the pledge of allegiance. The difference in the Oath of Allegiance and the pledge of allegiance is that the former is a commitment to the U.S. Consitution and Bill of Rights, where the latter is a commitment to flag and government, even if the government is tyrannical. The “liberty and justice for all” phrase from the pledge is so open to interpretation that it is practically useless, whereas the Bill of Rights specifically states areas where the federal government is not allowed to trample upon the individual citizen or local governments. Yet, the federal government continues to overreach and unjustly punish the citizenry.

President Woodrow Wilson was a nationalist, a socialist, a fascist and a believer in the supremacy of the Aryan race. Don’t believe it, just read his writings. That’s the legacy, the beginning of Marxism in the U.S.A. Adolf Hitler was an admirer of Woodrow Wilson. LBJ, Nixon, Barack Obama, FDR, Bush, and Woodrow Wilson all fall in the category of socialist, fascist, authoritarians that dealt great blows to the Bill of Rights and the cause of freedom. Of course congress and voters that make poor choices are involved. And, then so many don’t even bother to vote.

Democrats and Republicans have sold the U.S. citizenry down the river. We can debate these crises, interest stories, and ponder varying philsophies all day long. It won’t change the fact that modern governments have become increasingly oppressive, and seek to unite in an illegitimate form of global rule. The Oath Keepers simply seek to resist government oppression.

Unfortunately, most of our citizens won’t lift a finger to resist even though the key is within easy reach. Read about Marx, Engels, Hegel, Bauer, Lenin, Trotsky, Stalin, Weimar Republic, Hitler, Rosa Luxembourg, Mussolini, Woodrow Wilson, what Hitlers did to the Jews, and you may get a better idea of how genocides can come about and the world may be thrown into war by despicable leadership. Do not be misled. Government leaderships as a whole, bankers, celebrities, industrial leaders, media magnates and the like are seldom victims of war, no matter the form of government or political philosophies involved. In fact, for some reason it seems these people usually end up benefitting, and are in fact the ones with the power to instigate war.

Responsible self-governance is your key to freedom, and I encourage you to be open-minded while knowledgable. Be an honest and kind diplomat to any others that maintain and defend individual rights. Stand up for yourself and others in a virtuous manner and you will do much to curb evil and corruption.

Remember that the antelope, gazelle, rhino, ram, and steer are “militarized” by their horns, yet these animals are not agressive if left alone. Those that would make whole populations defenseless and therefore submissive to government are fools or would be tyrants. Good luck to all of you.
