US Senator Protects Formaldehyde Industry

Senator David Vitter is standing in the way of Obama’s nomination of Paul Anastas to be initiated into the EPA’s office of Research and Development. Anastas’ specialty rests in researching the design of safer chemicals and chemical processes to replace hazardous substances. The formaldehyde industry is placed under extreme risk with his nomination.

Senator David Vitter’s position on this issue raises several questions as to his connection with the formaldehyde industry. Formaldehyde is found in several building products, such as plywood, fiberboard, and adhesives. In slowing the process of instating Anastas, Vitter is putting off research done on formaldehyde, which has been announced by the International Agency for Research on Cancer to be a probable carcinogen.

Vitter’s intentions are heavily weighted by the financial campaign support he was granted by the most significant polluters in Louisiana’s formaldehyde polluters.

After Hurricane Katrina, many victims were sheltered in portable buildings wrecked with formaldehyde. Vitter is ultimately standing in the way of saving lives, and preventing illness in many people across the country.

The fate of TOXIC FEMA TRAILERS victims and formaldehyde related campaign donors is in the hands of David Vitter’s very, very best friend and former campaign finance manager, the presiding Judge.
David Vitter first entered politics when he won the Louisiana State House seat vacated by former Ku Klux Klan Wizard David Duke. Vitter’s sins appear to go much deeper than just being one of the Senate’s favorite Johns. Since being dubbed the “Formaldehyde Senator” it appears that his motives are more sinister than arranging illicit sex. His cozy relationship with the Formaldehyde Council and personal connections has caused some who have closely followed the proceedings to question the motives. The Government and the formaldehyde industry have long (over twenty 20 years) been aware of dangers of formaldehyde hidden in building products. The industry has managed to keep the public/media ignorant by simply keeping the law makers happy. In 2005, hurricane survivors discovered that hundreds of thousands occupants of FEMA trailers and/or mobile homes were being exposed and/or suffering from dangerous levels of formaldehyde. FEMA knew the occupants were suffering but ignored the issue as they feared ownership of the problem. In April 2007, a CDC whistle blower’s action forced FEMA to disclose that fact that FEMA housing was not safe. This sparked thousands of law suits against FEMA, the trailer manufacturers and the contractors who handled the toxic trailers. Could formaldehyde politics be making it difficult for FEMA toxic trailers victims to get fair day in court, as any negative verdicts for defendants could be very costly for Senator’s cronies and campaign donors, as well as, the Formaldehyde council. Senator Vitter also has close political ties to the right wing of the New Orleans and Louisianan legal and justice communities. In 2001, at Judicial confirmation hearings, Representative David Vitter referred to the current presiding judge, of the FEMA toxic trailer litigation, as his very, very good friend. This friend was Vitter’s campaign finance manager while he had been pushing for this judgeship.
