Research at UCLA shows that while smoking marijuana damages cells in respiratory tissue but somehow it prevents the cells from becoming malignant. Something in Marijuana exerts an anti-cancer effect, reports UCLA Medical School professor Donald Tashkin. Tashkin’s team interviewed 1,210 cancer patients and found that increased marijuana use did not increase cancer, where as smoking tabacco clearly was related to cancer. Tashkin found that even the very heavy marijuana smokers showed no increased incidence of the three cancers studied. Although no association between marijuana and cancer was found, the study findings, presented to the American Thoracic Society International Conference this week, did find 20-fold increase in lung cancer among people who smoked two or more packs of cigarettes a day. Other important findings from this study are that THC has been shown to promote apoptosis and to counter angiogenesis.

Marijuana may not cause cancer, however, because of its addictive properties it is prohibited in some states and other countries. Other respiratory sickness can be attributed to it. To avoid those harmful substances they could use an electronic cigarette like VirtuSmoke until the craving stops. It is safe and can be used anywhere.
Hello Pipe dreamers! This is not censored news. This is nonsense. Wake up. Taking smoke into your lungs, no matter what kind of smoke it is, will be bad for your lungs. I’m all for legalizing marijuana and taxing it. But you are dreaming if you think marijuana is not harmful to you. Or perhaps you are just a little too high to think straight.
And I’m not sure WHAT ‘smoking alternative’ is writing about:
“Marijuana may not cause cancer, however, because of its addictive properties it is prohibited in some states and other countries”
Yeah… it is illegal in more than a few states. Prohibited… yeah.. and then some.
Weed is not addictive. THC is the ingredient in weed that cures cancer. Get weed oil, give a small dose orally each day and poof! cancer shall be gone in a very short time. Try it, you will find that I am correct. Just for a start watch this video and then do your own research. EVERYTHING the criminals in power (formerly refered to as government) say about weed is 100%BS.
http://wideeyecinema.com/?p=1036
Uhhh I think the last commenter is full of BS. While it is correct UCLA did disprove a link between marijuana and lung cancer, THC does not cure cancer. Thats some pothead’s pipe dream. THC has been shown in some studies to lower blood pressure. It has not been proven to do anything else besides get you high. Statements like “It cures cancer” belong in the “Herbal”/”Natural” bin of misinformation. Right up there with “Laying on hands” and other spiritual healing hippie BS
This is great news. I can now smoke bud all the time and not only will I not get cancer but it will also dumb me down enough that I will actually believe the bullshit spewed on this leftist nazi news site.
lol Marijuana does not kill brain cells or dumb people down. That is government propaganda. And if you get stupid because of smoking it, then that is really something inside you and it just brings it to the top of who you really are. Now Dave, I loved your burgers after smoking a big fat joint, but please leave the science to those that actually know what they are doing and let them talk about it. And as for JIM, that is probably the biggest crock of sh*t I ever heard.
I am against leagalizing marajuana. If it happens we will probably see the Feds get into it with “Alcohol Tabacco Marajuana & Firearms”. We will have MA
( Marajuana Annoymous) and we can have meetings after school for he kids. We will also be able to add Pot overdose offenders to our list of drunk drivers and firearm offenders.
Politicians will make taxes so high on pot that no one could afford to buy it and regulations so strict that noone could afford to grow it. Most of the institutional drug offenders That I know about started thier careers on pot. If it does come to pass we can put it in vending machines and sell it like candy. We never learn.
Jim, “Pot overdose” is not possible. The lethal dose of cannabis is orders of magnitude more than a person could possibly ingest or inhale. Studies on driving show it to be less debilitating than cell phones, though I imagine that even if it were legalized, it would still be illegal to smoke and drive as it would be considered driving under the influence.
We have all of those things you mentioned already for alcohol, yet we still tolerate it because the vast majority of people can handle it fine. Why can’t we also have them to deal with the small minority of people who will be affected that way by cannabis? Additionally, cannabis is not physically addictive (unlike alcohol) and is considerably less dangerous to your health.
As for the market, the prices are very high right now due to it being illegal. The cost savings from large-scale production under legal conditions would be massive and taxation on it could be extremely lucrative by simply keeping it at the same price as it is right now through taxes.
As for the drug offenders, there is absolutely no proof anywhere of any “gateway drug” effect other than the one that results from having to go to drug dealers to get cannabis. Were it legal, one would never need to expose oneself to people dealing with more dangerous drugs.
Well said Steven Adam, well said. Pot smokers can be just as misinformed as non-pot smokers. First off, almost every thing that you have ever heard regarding marijuana is a complete fabrication, either by the government or over zealous stoners.
Here are just a couple things to ponder:
Every, science-based, government sponsored study has come to the following conclusions, Marijuana is not dangerous for you, is not addictive, damn near impossible to overdose on, and finally each of these studies has promoted that marijuana be removed from the schedule 1 drug list, decriminalized or legalized completely.
Given, that there are very few official, science based studies of marijuana but two studies were commissioned by Nixon, one by Carter, and one by Clinton. each of these studies agree, that it is mostly harmless and much, much less harmful than tobacco and alcohol.
So what other studies have been done on cannabis? well a couple DEA studies have shown that it is responsible for the crack epidemic, sun spots and generally the downfall of western civilization. The point is that if marijuana were legalized and regulated the same as alcohol, then the DEA would not have enough of a “drug problem” to sustain itself. Today’s marijuana enthusiest would create a whole new, legal industry that would include, cultivation for medical use recreational use, and industrial hemp.
In 2007 we had 872000+ people put in our prison system for marijuana related crimes, be it possession, dealing, driving while under the influence, etc. Think about that number, 872000+ people in one year! Each one costing tax payers thousands of dollars each year. There is a more subtle point to this as well, is prohibition working at all when 872000+ people are being imprisoned in a 12 month time span? Also take into consideration that thats 872000 people who were caught, there is an estimated 97 million people in the united states as of 2004 who have tried marijuana on multiple occasions, 25.8 million users in 2008 and 15.6 million users within the month prior to the study. So that is 8% of the population in 2008 that use or used marijuana regularly! Really??? Is prohibition working?? Does it justify the 2.2 billion dollar DEA budget for fighting illegal drugs? Thats 2.2 billion that is specifically set aside for fighting illegal drug traffic, another 5.5 billion is spent for drug related prosecution each year!
This just does not add up! Take into consideration that if it were legalized and regulated there would be billions of dollars of tax revenue. In California alone last year the marijuana trade generated 12 billion dollars, an estimated 1-1.5 billion dollars would have been the tax dollars generated to the state….and that is a the current sales tax level. If it were treated like the alcohol “sin tax”, which is calculated at a higher tax rate, the state taxes raised would be even higher. Add in the employment taxes from everyone in the industry and yet again, even more tax revenue. Again, these numbers are for California alone! Imagine the impact on the nation!
Does it cure cancer? no, it certainly aids in controlling the side effects of kemo.
Is it a gateway drug? only if your dealer is selling hard drugs as well as weed….he is a dealer, its his job to sell you whatever he can. If it were regulated and sold at the same places alcohol is, then kids would have a harder time getting it AND not be exposed to the harder drugs that their local dealer may have available. Dealers as we know them today would fade away. No pun intended but Budweiser would have a new product line.
does it make you crazy? Not unless you had a tendency to go nuts anyway! Even then, something else could have set you off, i mean it could be anything, booze, cupcakes, whatever, you get the ideal. There will always be people who have addictive personalities, no matter what they are involved with, these people take it too far. We see this today with alcohol and tobacco, mind you that alcohol can be addictive and its beyond a fact that tobacco is one of the most addictive substances known to man. Cannabis is not addictive, never was, never will be. Of course this may bring up the fact that the majority of young people in treatment for drug dependency are there for marijuana. Well this is the problem with that, if a young person is caught with marijuana in a crime, they are given the choice of doing time (at juvenile hall or an adult facility) or entering a drug rehabilitation program. BLAMO! Instant, anti-marijuana fact that can be thrown around by the DEA. Its just false, really.
So, if this was helpful or enjoyable, then great, have a nice day. If not, well, its just words on a page, take it or leave it. Happy Holidays everyone!!!

It may not cause lung cancer, but it does seem to turn one into an irritating, self-righteous drop out with obnoxious (or just noxious?) body odour…
some say grass is addictive but there is a problem one what do the put in tobacco to make it addictive which they still add that little hazordiouse material in it still then there is tobacco that is not from the facist cigarrette companies and does not contain said poisons and then there is marijuana it is not a addictive as some brain dead idiots say look at the american indians who smoked it before the facist system took control
they didnt get cancer and george washington and james madison and the founding fathers had to been stoned out of their minds well that didnt have but it was more prevalent during that period so what is up why all the mania over the lies that promoted funny that was being grown during the war of northern agression something is wrong here even henry ford made his material from hemp why is it outlawed because one it could be used for many purposes and it was more efficent as a fuel and clothes would it be called control of the public
who would do that big brother and their is a war on drugs funny who is bringing the drugs here cia and other criminals
listen to radiofreethc at american freedom network
smoking weed does not cause lung cancer they know this from all the lifelong costa rican smokers would not have it when they died. get the truth through your thick skull.
what did i do just step into the 1950′s. man you guys are stupid. the one guy i read, it was pretty good. i know the dose it takes to od. i done a report, i had to do, 15 pounds a second for 15 minutes. im not for sure of the length, but i wouldn’t be off by a coupole minutes. it’s been a while since i looked at it.
this report says pot does not cause cancer, and it hurts your respiratory tract. who’s the moron who said, it does hurt you too. what
the report says it keeps you from getting cancer. pot cures cancer. i’d say it does, did anybody watch that video.
pots not pyhsically addictive. mental is also like a fat person, who don’t quit eating, your fat, your disgusting, and it’s your fault. you keep eating, your sick. and i think your stupid.
and pot’s a plant. it’s not a gateway, that’s so stupid. i don’t go out and eat a blueberry, then go, i gotta eat a grape. stupid crap and it’s gateway thinking bunch of crap.
pot does kill brain cells, a little. i heard. there’s a candidate to check, chong. he’s smoked pot, oh i guess he hasn’t smoked pot then, whatver, that’sstupid. he’s smart, smarter than most of the people who are posting here.
quit smoking and see if you are addicted.
quit smoking pot, and see if you feel if you want pot. you don’t. it doesn’t bother you, it’s getting high. which isn’t pot, so it’s not pyhsically addictive. at least do it before you say it’s addictive. like drinking orange juice isn’t addictive. you don’t have to drink orange juice again, you drink raspberry juice, and it will be good.
Monty Burns: “It was I, you fools! The man you trusted wasn’t Wavy Gravy at all! And all this time, I’ve been smoking harmless tobacco!! Hahahahaha!”
THC is not the main anti-cancer molecule in cannabis. Cannabidiol (CBD) actually has a very powerful anti-cancer action, and has been proven to considerably alleviate many kinds of auto-immune disorders. Cannabis is a very powerful medicinal plant, with as many as 800 different cannabinoids, sometimes with antagonistic effects. More research should be invested in studying them, but I guess most of you know why extensive research into naturally-occuring/unpatentable molecules is very seldom lead. All in all, it appears that High-CBD THC (which usually means low-THC cannabis, as THC and CBD are expressed by the same gene, and breeding practices that tend to favor THC-content usually do it at the expense of CBD-content) has an overall positive effect. The way to ingest it is of course crucial, smoking being the worst possible solution (destructive for the respiratory system, and also destroying many of the active principes in the process). Several parts of the plant (not only the seeds) also have very interesting nutritive properties.
Cannabis is one of the oldest medicinal plants know to man. We’re still a far cry from knowing all the good it can do. As for the bad, what a joke… compared to so many freely-available products, and prescription drugs.
This is a wonderful idea. I am sure many people will find this useful. Quit Smoking
ok lets be logical here people
weed is not an addictive substance and does not cure cancer
everyone should know that by now
it does damage braincells and is unhealthy if your brain is not fully developed like it is at the age of about 24
yes it can slow the spread of cancer and even take away some pain
of course it isnt the best thing for your lungs but it is not as bad as cigarettes
no it wont cause cancer either

Free love is no longer an option that we can take lightly any more so it seems there are a few alternatives to keeping it safe.So as a man, a single man I have turned to the internet to fulfill my desires at this time in my life.Online I can find many options that do not run the same risks as playing the field.Being that there is a wide vareiety of online sites to choose from it is hard to decide which one to go with..I as a man tend to go to the ones with the models that I enjoy.
Its nice to see so much information on legalization showing up in all forms online. America is closer than ever to seeing the drug war overturned.
How shortly does the danger trial expire?
Folks, here are the only reasons marijuana is illegal: The Cotton Industry, The Lumber Industry, The Paper Industry, The Oil Industry, The Pharmaceutical Industry. Now, go and do some deep research and you will see that it is all about money, and the currently established industries and the threat the legal hemp poses to them. Hemp can create a greener environment, offer incredible medicinal properties and cure disease, it’s more versatile than any cotton product for cloth and other textiles, it can make 12 times the paper products as lumber and all grow back in a year, it’s seeds are more nutritious than soy and used (secretly) to feed the world’s hungry because it is so good for you, and the seed’s oils can replace many oils we use today for mechanical things. I could go on. Folks, it is the biggest scam of the power hungry corporations ever to keep hemp illegal. It has NOTHING to do with anything else…guaranteed. What amazes me, is that legalizing it…if only for industrial uses, would create jobs, make a greener environment, and just help all the way around. By the way, they already know how to grow it without the THC. Research it. Think about it. This will save our country.
Hey Bary or anyone else on here for that matter,

Okay,
Weed = good, causes mellowness, cures blindness, helps ease the mind, fights cancer, more eficent fuel, clothing, shelter, better for the environment, completely renewable.. fully nutricious, not addictive, nor a ‘gateway drug’ Related to the mint family, infact closely related to ‘mint leaves’ which has been scientifically proven with green tea to increase the oxygen in your blood reducing your cholesteral, Best thing above all, it shows how different everyone is, and even how different people can get along! It makes it harder for you to hide behind your masks, aka increasing sociability as well as social skills.
Tabacco = has killed more people then WW2, addictive, gateway drug, increases stress, laced with over 90 chemicals proven to cause cancer, costs a lot to grow, increases chances for defective children: ADHD, Bi-Polar, Depression, Anger. Also known to increase irritablity by 100%. It is also related to the ‘nightshade’ family which is poisonous mushrooms.
Alcohol = It kills 100′s every day due to liver failure, intoxicated murder, drunk driving, increased aggression, causes birth defects such as stillborns as well as ADHD, Bi-Polar, Depression, Anger, and manic conditions. Heavily addictive, you can od very easily. It destroys all good and bad bacteria in your system and doubles the risk of organ failures, also individuals..
Rum = SUGAR, SUGAR is not good for your system.
Wine = Small amounts have been proven to be benefical.. less then a 3oz glass with your meals. But wine is responsible for an extinction of an entire spieces.
They want us dead, do you really think they give a rats ass about us? Hey wow Angelina just adopted an orphan kid cause she felt sorry for him.. “Ange… I get bored while your working can you please get me a brother or sister?”
They eat the meat and toss you the scraps. I feel sorry for all you idiots that actually believe the government and the corperations give a rats ass about the individual.
Just remember you and me are an individual but together.. we make a country..
There’s no doubt about it, the Volcano is the cadillac vaporizer. I swear it’s amazing. There’s plenty of cheaper options, but you’re not going find that level of quality in any of the competitors. I had a Vapir, I had a Vapor Bros setup, nether compared. You get what you pay for. And at $500-600 for a Volcano Vaporizer, you’re definitely “paying” for it. As far as “healthier” consumption of marijuana is concerned, it’s been proven over and over that the vaporizing is the way to go…
I hit the cancer sticks for forever and kicking the habit was very hard. I used all of the quitting aids but not one did the trick. Then I found the e cig. The electronic cigarette. The e cig uses a nicotine liquid that has just nicotine. No poisons at all. They have actually improved my life.
